Review: DNA Detective

This is an excellent book on DNA and genetics with a forensics application. It covers scientific concepts in detail, with interesting examples and lots of graphics. It has a detective theme woven through the book that shows readers how the information they learn could be used to solve a real world mystery. As they read along, they interactively use the information to solve a crime.

This book has plenty of coverage for an entire unit on genetics, and the colorful layout makes it unintimidating.
I’d recommend it for middle school on up for independent use.

Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from NetGalley, and was impressed enough to buy a hard copy! All opinions are my own.
